Avionics
A flight management system (FMS) is a fundamental part of a modern aircraft's avionics. An FMS is a specialized computer system that automates a wide variety of in-flight tasks, reducing the workload on the flight crew to the point that modern aircraft no longer carry flight engineers or navigators. A primary function is in-flight management of the flight plan. Using various sensors (such as GPS and INS) to determine the aircraft's position, the FMS can guide the aircraft's autopilot along the flight plan.
Ashtech offers a wide range of professional GPS/GNSS solutions, ideal for Avionics such as FAA certifiable receivers to be integrated inside FMS, or receiver to be used for real time and/or post-processing trajectography.

Here are the products proposed by Ashtech to serve this application:

  • SkyNav GG12 W

With over 10 years of experience in high-precision receiver design, Ashtech has developed an OEM GPS receiver explicitly for the aviation industry. The SkyNavâ„¢ GG12WTM is ideally suited for integration within Technical Standard Order (TSO) Flight Management Systems (FMS), ground-based reference stations for GPS aircraft landing systems (SCAT I and LAAS) and other avionics. In addition to traditional GPS receiver design and ISO 9001 engineering practices, the SkyNav GG12W design team has adhered to all FAA/RTCA design criteria.
    Featured highlights
    • 1 m accuracy (CEP) in SBAS mode
    • Meets RTCA/DO-229D requirements for normal and abnormal maneuvers
    • Low power consumption, 1.5W
